I’ve been collecting ideas for activities to do with the kids this summer and I found a good set of quest from my affiliate Education.com who’ve partnered with PBS Kids for this self directed summer reading camp.
The word “quest” conjures up all sorts of fun and true to the work the free quests feature kid friendly arts and crafts, reading, outdoor activities and science explorations bundled with reading and writing activities that scale to different age levels.
This summer challenge the kids with the Summer Reading Fun at Education.com and get 10 weeks of free activities for your children this summer – a new theme each week. Included in the weekly quest is a check list of supplies to get started, which is great for us busy parents and can, in turn, be the first step in the quest!
You sign in either with a Facebook account or email address and you can pick a number of activities based on the ages of your kids. I looked through the reading one and chose activities for the 8 – 11 year old range. I figured these are great for rainy summer days. There are others that I’ll tailor to the kids’ interests – animals, super hero’s, science, art. My daughters will love the make your own armor art project.
Get the free checklist and plan the adventures with your kids, it’s lots of fun and great for kids under 12. Make sure you sign up for the reading club too – there is a great selection of book ideas for kids of each level up to grade 5.
