Spelling and writing apps

Spelling Hero by Tap To Learn Software – Give the spelling list a new twist and have your child test themselves! We love the custom list function which allows us to enter our daughters class spelling list and she has lots of fun testing herself. Lots of praise and applause given as well as a scorecard. We’ve been using for a little while now and it is a great addition to homework time. price: $0.99

Spell-A-Word by RJ Cooper & Associates, Inc. is another app that lets you use their word list in the free version or upgrade to the paid version and customize lists and images. I like that you can record your child’s name and also have multiple children listed. You can choose to use the iPad keyboard or try an external keyboard and practice keyboard skills. Price: $4.99
